In Plain English...

This site is an attempt to create a roleplaying game that reads like a poem instead of like a textbook or a narrative. My goal is to have the entire set of poems be a playable game without the need for any further explanation. I'd like to have this page be the only explanatory text necessary - I'll probably have to write the rules normally on the discussion pages, but I'm also very interested to see what mechanics others come up with after reading the game.

The specific topic of the game is the world of the Ultima computer games, especially Ultima IV, V, and VI. These games had a hidden system of Virtues that kept track of player actions and made it important to behave in a virtuous manner. The game wasn't about defeating a major villain and getting all the loot you could, it was about being an example of a good person. The game's stock in trade was the moral dilemma, but of the win-win or win-lose variety, not usually the lose-lose kind.

I've been trying to think of a good way to make an RPG out of that for years, and this is my first public effort.
